There are plenty of opportunities to work in the industry, many of which require you to be commercially endorsed with either your powerboat level 2 or advanced qualifications.
Opportunities exist from driving sightseeing boats, survey boats, working in harbours, providing safety cover and many other fields of work.
In order to gain your commercial qualification, there are a few things you need.
You must be over the age of 17 and have over 100 hours logged as crew or skipper onboard
Powerboat Level 2
When commercially endorsed the powerboat level 2 will allow you to work on small commercial vessels under 10 metres in length and no more than 3 miles from shore during daylight hours. more info her

RYA Advanced Powerboat (with Exam) - When commercially endorsed the advanced powerboat will allow you to work on small commercial vessels under 24 metres in length and no more than 20 miles from shore both during day and night. more info here
RYA Professional Practices and Responsibilities - an online course - A compulsory online course for new and revalidating RYA Commercial Endorsement holders. You can take this course anytime prior to your Commercial Endorsement application or renewal. Your PPR certificate will be valid either for your first Commercial Endorsement application or your next renewal. more info here
RYA First Aid course - The one-day classroom course is taught by instructors with considerable boating experience. It is aimed at anyone who goes afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries or on cross channel passages. more info here
RYA Short Range Radio Certificate -
This course is designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge required to operate VHF radios, including Digital Selective Calling (DSC) functionality. It is a legal requirement for anyone operating a British flagged vessel fitted with a radio, whether fixed or handheld. more info here
RYA Sea Survival Course - For anyone going to sea, the RYA Sea Survival course is a genuine lifesaver. Hopefully you’ll never need to use a life raft, but if you do find yourself in difficulty, you are more likely to survive if you know what to expect. We dont currently provide this course but there are plenty of providers on the south coast, speak to us to discuss your options
Personal medical certificate - either an ML5 or ENG1 depending on where you wish to work. Your doctors surgery can normally provide you with this but they will charge!
