Scattering of ashes from weymouth along the jurassic coast
Scattering a loved ones ashes out at sea can provide a memorable way of celebrating a life and giving a peaceful send off whilst you have a very personal and secluded chance to bid farewell.
We offer experienced skippers who can provide guidance on the scattering of Ashes at sea and for those wishing to go further than just outside of Weymouth, we can venture further afield to Portland Bill, Durdle Door or Lulworth Cove.
There are few regulations when it comes to scattering ashes from a boat and we can guide you through the process. The main consideration is that we ask only biodegradable items are used in the sea to avoid pollution. We avoid the placing of wreaths etc which have plastic in them.
With our boat, we can take up to 11 however are best suited to smaller groups of 4-6. For larger groups in Weymouth, we can provide local contacts who can offer a larger boat.
We can provide lifejackets which everyone onboard will have to wear and just ask that everyone brings warm clothes for out on the water.
What else can we offer
On the day, the skipper can assist you by reading a prayer or chosen passage. We can provide a quiet soundtrack in the background or play your loved ones favourite song.
If you wish, the skipper can scatter the ashes for you or you are more than welcome to do this for yourselves.
In short, we will do what we can to make the process easier for you and can discuss this prior to the day.
Costs and timings
We can be as flexible as possible for the timings but the more notice you can give us the better. evenings and weekends can also be catered for.

These depend on where you would like to go to scatter the Ashes,
Within a mile of Weymouth Harbour - far enough to get away from the town it is £75 per hour
Further afield, Portland Bill, Durdle Door or Lulworth cove for 2 hours, it would be £165 We are of course happy to discuss any specific locations and will always do our best to work with you to ensure the day goes well. As with most on water events, destinations can be affected by weather, we should know several days in advance whether a chosen location is likely to be accessible.
