In our Yacht Master theory course, we will cover essential skills such as position fixing, course shaping, and plotting. You'll gain valuable tidal knowledge, learn to utilize almanacs and admiralty publications, and work with electronic position finding equipment. Additionally, we'll focus on taking and interpreting forecasts, plotting weather systems, and importantly how it will affect us. We will also address the IPRCS and discuss yacht stability and overall safety onboard, which are crucial components of the yachtmaster theory course.
The coastal skipper course requires a minimum of 40 hours plus an exam. This training is typically conducted over a period of 6 days, from Sunday to Friday. Throughout the week, participants will engage in navigation training and will typically face three different exams related to the yachtmaster theory course.
All course materials, including the RYA Yachtmaster Theory course notes, will be provided during the coastal skipper course and offshore navigation training. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day.
