RYA Powerboat Level 2 - Own boat tuition

Private tuition / Own boat tuition gives you the chance to learn by yourself or with friends and family at your own pace. More flexibility on times during the day gives you the chance to run the course around events at the sailing academy or other activities and allows it to be run in different formats to the back to back 2 day course. 

e.g. for an RYA Powerboat Level 2 course, it could be run over two single days provided there isn't a large time between them

or the course could be run over a series of 4 hour sessions

Please note that in order to use your own boat, we do require all the safety equipment is on board. we will provide you with a list of this prior to the course. If you don't have it then we can sometimes arrange for the loan of equipment. If on the day the boat doesn't have the relevant equipment or is faulty then we reserve the right to refuse tuition 

RYA Powerboat Level 2 - Provides the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver and is the basis of the international certificate of competence.

No Prior experience is required

Safety Equipment, personal equipment, launch and recovery, line handling.

Boat Handling

Effects of current or tide, high and low speed manoeuvres, picking up a mooring, anchoring, leaving and coming alongside a pontoon or jetty, Man Overboard

Theory and Background

Types of craft and engines, basic maintenance checks, IRPCS (rules of the road) weather forecasts, Emergency action
