Where is Weymouth powerboat Training based?
We are located in the heart of Weymouth on Hope Street. Right next to the harbour and withing a few minutes walk of our mooring. This means we can vary the day depending on conditions, head back to the training room for lunch and breaks or if the weather turns against us.
What are RYA Levels 1 and 2?
RYA Level 1 is a 1 day course aimed at either younger participants or family groups wanting a days activities. It is primarily based on the water and covers the basics of boat handling.
RYA Level 2 is a 2 day course aimed at getting people experienced and qualified. The basis for your international certificate of competence and a great comprehensive introduction to powerboating. No experience is needed to do this course.
What do I need to bring on a course?
We provide all the safety equipment and waterproofs. All you need to bring is warm clothes, solid footwear and lunch (or the local shops have a great selection)
Who does the Instruction?
We work with a small group of instructors, all of who have significant experience on the water. With three of our instructors active crew members on the local RNLI, there is plenty of experience to be shared with an absolute focus on safety and quality instruction.
What Courses do you offer?
We offer the full range of RYA Powerboat Courses, from RYA Level 1, right through to the Advanced qualification and the CoC exam for those looking to work commercially. Backed up by a range of Theory courses to ensure your knowledge is up to scratch. If you are looking to progress, get in touch and we can discuss all your options.
What Boats will be used
Our primary teaching boat is Buccaneer, a 7.8 Metre Ribcraft with a 325 HP Suzuki outboard. This is a fantastic craft, well suited to teaching the basics and stretching out on a trip to Lulworth on one of our intermediate or advanced courses.
Whats the cost?
Each course listed on the website should have a price by it but if your not sure then please do get in touch. We aren't the cheapest but we pride ourselves on top of the range equipment and crucially some of the most experienced instructors, all of who are fully qualified and hugely experienced in teaching. Including RNLI Coxswains, trainers, helms and paramedics.
